Awel-Deg is a
family run bed & breakfast situated on the
A44 road 5 miles east of Aberystwyth in beautiful
Ceredigion. The bungalow overlooks the Rheidol
Valley with its famous Narrow Gauge Railway which
runs from Aberystwyth to picturesque Devil's
Bridge.
We are central to a wonderful
variety of attractions. Relax and enjoy the
nearby beaches, visit the Nant yr Arian Forest
Visitor Centre, ride at the nearby Rheidol Riding
School and even bring your fishing gear to
experience fabulous lake and river trout fishing.
If you are looking for something a
little different, visit the historic Llywernog
Silver Mine, or come right up to date at
StatKraft's Rheidol Hydro-electric Scheme with its
guided tours, Visitor Centre, fish farm &
nature trails.
Ardent bird watchers will thrill
to the sight of the beautiful Red Kites circling
high in the skies, looking for their prey. If you
want to see them close up, watch them being fed at Nant yr Arian Forest
Visitor Centre or go along to the local
Kite Centre & Museum at Tregaron.
Now you can even visit 'a magical
place' - Hafod - recognised as one of the finest
examples in Europe of a picturesque landscape.
For those who want to sample the
local atmosphere (and evening meals &
drinks!), there are two public houses within
walking distance of Awel-Deg - 'Y Maes' Bangor Arms or the 'Tynllidiart
Arms'. We have menus for
both establishments.
Or are you into genealogy? Trying
to trace the ancient roots of your family tree?
The area abounds with old graveyards and the
inscriptions tend to have survived well because
of the lack of atmospheric pollution.
If all that sounds a little too
hectic, then don't worry! At Awel-Deg you will
find a warm and relaxed atmosphere where the
cares of life will slip into perspective against
the stunning backdrop of nature at its most
beautiful. Experience it once and you will want
to come back to see us again and again.
